      Archaeological Tours in Israel - Jerusalem

      Day 1: Airport – Jerusalem

      Welcome to Israel!
      Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv.
      Reception by a representative of WeRIsrael and transfer to Jerusalem.
      Arrive at the hotel and be welcomed with fresh fruit juice.
      Take your time to freshen up in the hotel.
      Opening dinner – 'Israel 101 – All you need to know!'
      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Archaeological Tours in Israel - Jerusalem Old City

      Day 2: The Israel Museum - Jerusalem Old City - Tower of David

      Today, you will discover the archaeological layers of Jerusalem.
      Start at the Israel Museum, which is ranked amongst the world’s leading archaeological museums.
      Visit the breathtaking Shrine of the Book complex and see the archaeological collection that is considered among the world's leading collections of its kind for its scope and quality.
      Visit the Old City. Discover how many layers there are at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, what is the story behind the maps hanging on the walls of the Armenian quarter, why are there huge water pools in the middle of the Muslim quarter, and go underground to King Herod’s world at The Wohl Archaeological Museum in the Jewish quarter.
      Continue with a walk through the Oriental Bazaar and buy yourself and your family a souvenir.
      Return to the hotel and freshen up.
      Eat dinner with an Israeli archaeologist who works in the city
      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Archaeological Tours in Israel - City of David

      Day 3: Jerusalem - Emek Tzurim - City of David – Western Wall, Rockefeller Museum

      We will go to Emek Tzurim National Park to sift through archaeological-rich rubble from the Temple Mount. Learn from archaeologists and expert guides about discoveries that were made and take part in uncovering Jerusalem’s glorious past.
      Continue on to the City of David. This is a famous archaeological site that is speculated to compose the original urban core of ancient Jerusalem. See the different layers that were uncovered above the ground and then go down to the hidden spring where the coronation of kings was held. Explore the underground mysteries of Hezekiah’s Tunnel, where water has flowed since the time of the prophets.
      Visit the Western Wall, the most sacred place for Jews, and discover the mysteries of the Western Wall tunnels!
      Finish the day at the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum that contains thousands of artifacts arranged in chronological order, ranging from prehistoric times to the Ottoman period.
      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Archaeological Tours in Israel - Massada

      Day 4: Qumran - Masada - Dead Sea - Beit She'an

      Drive to the Dead Sea area and enjoy the beautiful views of the Judean Desert.
      Arrive at Qumran - where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. This city was established on a main junction during the Hellenistic period, and you will see multi-level structures, reservoirs, pottery kilns, and houses.
      From there, continue to the Masada Fortress - the only site in Israel that was 100% excavated. Ascend and descend by cable car and join a guided walking tour around the fortress.
      Continue on to the Dead Sea shore – float in the water and cover yourself with natural mud!
      Drive along the Jordan Valley and arrive at Beit She'an, one of the oldest cities in Israel. In the beautiful Archaeological National Park, you can see the history of Israel through the archaeological remains from each historic period.

      Archaeological Tours in Israel - Golan  Heights

      Day 5: Tel Dan - Banyas - Golan Heights sites - Jeep ride

      Drive to the ‘Daughters of Jacob’ Bridge where archaeologists found 780,000 year-old remains of a prehistoric man.
      Arrive at Tel Dan, that is mentioned in the bible, described as the northernmost city of the Kingdom of Israel, and belonging to the tribe of Dan.
      Visit the Banyas and see the remains of the city that was the Cult Center of the god Pan.
      Climb to the Golan Heights and enjoy a traditional Druze lunch. Visit Mt. Bental – one of the best viewpoints in the area, where you can see the borders of Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan so close.
      In the afternoon, we’ll take a jeep ride through the beautiful mountain scenery of the Golan Heights. We’ll stop at Rujm el-Hiri - an ancient megalithic monument consisting of concentric circles of stone with a tumulus at the center.

      Archaeological Tours in Israel -Caesaria

      Day 6: Megiddo - Caesarea – Old Jaffa

      We will drive to Jezreel Valley and visit Megiddo. This impressive site in the Lower Galilee region of northern Israel is mentioned in the Book of Revelations as the setting for a future battle between the forces of good and evil. It was once an ancient city that dominated the Aruna Pass. For archaeologists, this city is probably the most important site in Israel dating from biblical times.
      From here, we will continue to the famous port of Caesarea. This magnificent site, which was built by King Herod, is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the country. Walk through the beautifully restored harbor and see the amazing theater.
      Drive along the Mediterranean shore and arrive in Tel Aviv!
      A moment before you start to enjoy the good life of the city that never sleeps, we will try to understand why there is a Portrait of Egyptian Presence in the heart of old Jaffa.
      Overnight: Tel Aviv

      Archaeological Tours in Israel - Wine Tasting

      Day 7: Ella Valley - Wine tasting - Beit Guvrin

      During our last day, we will try to understand the connection between the ancient books and the historical sites.
      We will start at the Ella Valley and see if there is any connection between this valley and the David versus Goliath story.
      We will visit Beit Guvrin National Park. This site has a wide range of history, from the First Temple period through to modern times, yet its amazing caves are the main attraction for many of the visitors.
      To finish our tour, we will visit one of the many vineyards in the area and taste their wine and local cheese. From books, we know that wine-making has been part of this land for more than 2000 years!
      Overnight: Tel Aviv
